Make Your Own Bubble Tea (Virtual)

2 PM - 3 PM

Join us for a delicious afternoon of discovery, as we explore the history of Bubble Tea from around the world! In this 60-minute, cook-along class, you will get to craft your own custom tea. Learn how to make simple syrup, cook the tapioca pearls perfectly, and enjoy the tasty drink you created. This workshop is geared for people 10 to 18 years old.

A limited number of supply kits are available. Sign up for a at epls.org/kits. Kits are not required to join the workshop. Ingredient and material list will be added soon.

Each kit contains:

  • 2 16-ounce cups
  • 2 wide bubble-tea straws
  • ½ cup quick cooking tapioca pearls (enough for 2 servings of bubble tea, either flavor)
  • 2 teaspoons matcha powder (enough for 2 servings of matcha-flavor bubble tea)

From home, you choose which tea you would like to make: matcha and/or fruity milk tea

Ingredients you’ll need for either flavor:

  • 3 cups of water
  • 1 cup of brown sugar
  • ½ cup quick cooking tapioca pearls (enough for 2 servings of bubble tea,

Ingredients you’ll need for the matcha flavor:

  • Milk
  • Ice
  • Confectioner’s (powdered) sugar (It’s fine to use granulated, but confectioner’s dissolves faster)
  • 2 teaspoons matcha powder

Ingredients you’ll need for the fruity milk tea:

  • Milk
  • Your choice of frozen fruit (great choices include strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, cherries, or mango chunks)
  • Sugar (granulated or confectioner’s)

Equipment needed:

  • 2 medium saucepans (or you can wash and reuse the same one)
  • Liquid measuring cup
  • Measuring spoons (tablespoon and teaspoon)
  • Medium strainer (for draining and rinsing cooked boba)
  • Slotted spoon (for scooping cooked boba out of syrup)
  • Blender (for fruity milk tea flavor only)
  • Fork or small whisk (for matcha tea only)
