Reading Challenge 2020

Book lovers: Are you up for a challenge? Everett Public Library has just the thing for you — the 2020 Everett Public Library Reading Challenge!

The challenge, which is a range of topics from which readers choose to read, is designed as an engaging way for you to explore a variety of genres and encourage a lifelong love of reading.

To submit your entry, take a photo of yourself holding the book (or at the event) and tag us (@eplsdotorg on Instagram or Twitter and @everettlibrary on Facebook).  You may also pick up or print a reading challenge checklist and return your completed challenge at either Everett Public Library location.


Each person may be get up to 15 chances to win a prize, depending on the number of books read and bonus events attended.

Winners will be randomly chosen at 9 a.m. on January 4, 2021.  Prizes are sponsored by the Friends of the Everett Public Library.

Read in any order...

  1. A book by Yangsze Choo.  *Bonus* Attend the author event on Friday, Mar. 16 at 6:30pm, Evergreen Branch Cancelled.  Future Date To Be Determined.
  2. A book by Tayari Jones.  *Bonus* Attend the author event on Saturday, Feb. 15 at 7pm, Everett Performing Arts Center
  3. A book by Phillip Margolin. *Bonus* Attend the author event on Saturday, March 14 at 2pm, Main Library Cancelled.  Future Date To Be Determined.
  4. A book set in the 1920s
  5. A graphic novel or comic book
  6. An eBook or audiobook *Tip* Use the Libby app to borrow books on your device
  7. A book that challenges your point of view
  8. A book of short stories or essays
  9. A book set in a city that has hosted the Olympics
  10. A book recommended by library staff
  11. A book published in 2020
  12. A cookbook or a book about food
