AARP Tax-Aide Free Tax Preparation Program

Due to limited volunteer availability, our local AARP chapter is not accepting new appointments currently. Updates will be posted here.

AARP Foundation Tax-Aide provides in-person and virtual tax assistance to anyone free of charge with a special focus on taxpayers who are over 50 or have low to moderate income. Tax-Aide volunteers are located nationwide, and are trained and IRS-certified every year to make sure they know about and understand the latest changes and additions to the tax code.

AARP began preparing tax returns in Snohomish and Camano Island in February. There is no charge for this service. Because of COVID, many of the traditional sites will not open this year. AARP will not have the ability to help as many taxpayers as in the past, and will mainly serve seniors and low-income taxpayers. Volunteers will be preparing returns virtually, and will scan taxpayer’s ID, social security cards and documents, save them to a secure location, complete the returns at counselor’s homes, provide taxpayers a paper copy of their return the following week, and then E-file their return.
