Copyright & Restrictions for Images
Because photographs from the Northwest History Room collection appear online with photographs from partnering institutions, reproductions are subject to the restrictions of each owner.
Check the "Repository" field in the information below an image to find out who owns it. Some institutions are unable to make reproductions. Items in these collections may be reproduced subject to the copyright and use restrictions of the owner.
Some materials found in our online exhibits may be protected by the U.S. Copyright Law (Title 17, U.S.C.). Additionally, the reproduction of some materials may be restricted by terms of gift or purchase agreements, donor restrictions, privacy and publicity rights, licensing, and trademarks.
You will find information about restrictions, if any, under the image. Transmission or reproduction of protected items beyond that allowed by fair use requires written permission of the copyright owners. For safety's sake, it is always best to check first with the repository institution before publishing.
Historical Archival Collection
The nature of historical archival collections means that copyright or other information about restrictions may be difficult or even impossible to determine.
The Everett Public Library is eager to hear from copyright owners who are not properly identified so that appropriate information may be provided in the future.
Images for Publications
If you are interested in reproducing any of the images found in our digital collections in publications, please contact the Northwest History Room for assistance. Staff will be able to verify that the images you have chosen are free of any copyright issues, and can provide you with higher resolution files.
Please be sure to properly credit the Northwest History Room at the Everett Public Library on any images that you include in your work. There is no usage fee for any copyright-free images in the Northwest History Room digital collections. Those wishing to make donations to support the collection may do so through our Friends of the Library group.
Images may be copied directly from the website free of charge. High-resolution versions are available for most images. These files are typically too large to email and must be saved to a thumb drive, transferred using our FTP server, or burned to disc.
Images copied to disc and mailed are $1 per disc plus the cost of shipping.
Be sure to include both the title and order number, which you will find in the text below the picture.
Contact the Northwest Room staff for help with orders or if you have any other questions at 425-257-8005.
