E-Books and E-Audiobooks
Notice: Due to new publisher restrictions, libraries are now unable to purchase more than one copy of some titles until two months after the publish date. To learn more about this new development in ebook publishing, see this article from Library Journal, "Macmillan Announces Two-Month Embargo on Library Ebooks"
Check out, download, and transfer audio and eBook titles to a variety of supported portable devices.
Best of all, eBooks and digital audio books automatically "return" to us, so there are no fines!
If you have an e-ink Kindle (the Kindles with grey screens and without apps), you will need to use OverDrive. Most Kindle Fire tablets will work with the cloudLibrary app, but not the e-ink Kindles.
Use your 14-digit library card number (beginning with 2305600...) and PIN (usually the last 4 digits of the phone number).
You can check out up to 10 digital audio books and eBooks.
The length of your checkout (7, 14, or 21 days) can be set within the cloudLibrary or OverDrive apps or browser pages.
You can place holds on eBooks, just like regular books!
OverDrive and cloudLibrary let you renew items that do not have other people waiting to check them out. The renewal option becomes available three days before the return date. Look for the Renew button next to the book image in 'Loans' in Overdrive and in 'My Books' in cloudLibrary.
