To obtain a library card,
picture identification and proof of current
physical address (and mailing address when
applicable) need to be shown.
Accepted identification:
Current Washington driver's license
Current WA ID card
These items can be used in
combination to verify name and address:
Military ID
WDL or ID without correct printed address
Expired driver's license
Matricula Consular
Out of state driver's license
Passport
Employee photo badge
Student body card
Photo credit card
Printed checks
Car registration/insurance card
Voter's registration card
Current rent/lease agreement
Current medical coupons
Current bills*
*Mail must be dated within the past 60
days. The library accepts business &
institutional mail (cable, power, and phone
bills, and bank statements) as verification
of address.
Other requirements
- Applicants using a mailing address
other than their physical address (i.e.:
PO Box, friend's address, parent's
address, work address) must verify their
physical address and their alternate
address.
- Applicants living at the Port of
Everett must show their live aboard form
and moorage statement and also have
proof of their mailing address.
- The library will not accept
handwritten addresses on the back of WA
ID's or driver's licenses as proof of
current address.
- The library does not telephone for
address verification.
- When giving a change of address in
person, the patron must show
verification of the new address using
the list outlined above. If the patron
has no acceptable ID present, they must
provide verification at the next
check-out.
- When giving an address change over
the phone, the patron must provide
verification at the next check-out.
