Once the material held in what libraries called “Pamphlet or Vertical Files”, flyers, pamphlets, brochures, small booklets and other textual ephemera were, in the past, often difficult to catalog and share with the public. Yet these materials offer a glimpse into the past and often tell the small stories of a community. Some are works of art as well. Digital technology can now make scanned views of these items easily available online. Presented here is a growing collaborative collection of Snohomish County textual ephemera drawn from the Everett Public Library’s Northwest Room and other county heritage collections.
