Digital images that you find at the Everett Public Library’s library website may be downloaded and printed, used freely for research and enjoyment, and linked to from other websites. Traditional photographic prints, digital prints and images burned to disc may be purchased. If you wish to use images from the library’s files for publication, please contact us and credit the Everett Public Library.
Copyright and Restrictions for Images
Since photographs from the Northwest Room collection appear online with photographs from partnering institutions, reproductions are subject to the restrictions of each owner. Check the “Repository” field in the information below an image to find out who owns it. Some institutions are unable to make reproductions. Items in these collections may be reproduced subject to the copyright and use restrictions of the owner.
Some materials found in our online exhibits may be protected by the U.S. Copyright Law (Title 17, U.S.C.). More information about U.S. Copyright can be found online at http://lcweb.loc.gov/copyright/ Additionally, the reproduction of some materials may be restricted by terms of gift or purchase agreements, donor restrictions, privacy and publicity rights, licensing and trademarks. If this is known, you will find information about restrictions under the photo image. Transmission or reproduction of protected items beyond that allowed by “fair use” requires written permission of the copyright owners. For safety’s sake, it is always best to check first with the repository institution before publishing.
The nature of historical archival collections means that copyright or other information about restrictions may be difficult or even impossible to determine. The Everett Public Library is eager to hear from copyright owners who are not properly identified so that appropriate information may be provided in the future.
